Manchester United are riding some momentum right now and will hope that injuries do not end up derailing it. The club have won four straight in the Premier League, including wins over Arsenal and Liverpool, something that would have looked very improbable, after they had lost their first two games of the campaign in convincing fashion. On the other hand, they brought their Europa League quest back on track as well with a 2-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol.

Harry Maguire seems to have suffered an injury scare while away on international duty with the England national team though.

There has been a lot of controversy around Maguire and his involvement in the English starting XI, even though he has pretty much lost his place in the Manchester United line up this season. And he did not cover himself in glory with his performance against Germany in the Three Lions’ latest UEFA Nations League game.

As reported by Metro, Gareth Southgate said in the press conference after the game:

"‘John Stones is feeling something with his hamstring and I think Harry is feeling something a little bit as well.’"

At this point of time, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane seem to be firmly ahead of Maguire in the Manchester United starting XI. But losing the club captain would also mean a loss of options and depth for the Red Devils.

If this turns out to be an injury, it could be a bigger blow for England before the World Cup. Despite the fact that Maguire has had his critics, there is no denying the fact that he has been superb for the Three Lions in major tournaments.

He played a key role in their runs to the World Cup 2018 semi-finals and the UEFA EURO 2020 final. Thus, it seems pretty clear that Southgate would pick Maguire in the starting XI in Qatar, if the Manchester United captain was available.
