Manchester United might be coming off of a great summer transfer window but one area that they did not end up strengthening in is striker. While Cristiano Ronaldo was heavily linked with an exit, he ultimately ended up staying on. On the other hand, it looks like Erik ten Hag prefers Marcus Rashford as the man up front in his line up. And Anthony Martial can play there as well.

That is the extent of Manchester United’s options at striker at the moment and unfortunately for them, both Rashford and Martial have suffered injuries recently.

That means that Ronaldo is the only fit striker that the Red Devils have right now and that could be a worry for them. The club legend does not seem to be the best fit in Ten Hag’s style of football and has mostly been reduced to an impact substitute this season. His only goal of the campaign has come from the penalty spot and his performances have been nothing to write home about.

It looks like the club could be looking at another Portuguese forward as the solution to their problems up top though. As reported by The Sun, Ten Hag is eyeing Benfica ace Goncalo Ramos to boost Manchester United’s firepower. He is valued at a transfer fee around £25 million.

Manchester United could make swoop for Portuguese star

It is safe to say that Ramos has made an impression with his performances for Benfica recently and has been linked with clubs like Bayern Munich and Newcastle United recently.

He was pretty much in the shadow of Darwin Nunez last season but has stepped his game up this time around, and is making it count.

A move to Manchester United could very well be the next step for his career. Now, let’s see if the club are able to sign him or not.
