Manchester United still have a long way to go but their recent performances suggest that they are on the right path under the management of Erik ten Hag. The club have won five of their last six games and the other one was a narrow 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad. On the other hand, they have beaten the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal during that period of time.

Thus, if the Red Devils can continue on this path then there is a good chance that they could end up having a positive season this time around, which was not looking likely at the start of the campaign, when the Red Devils lost their first two games and in convincing fashion.

There are some players though, whose future at Old Trafford does not look as bright as that of the team. Phil Jones is one of them.

Manchester United recently released their confirmed 25-man squad for the Premier League season on their official website. Unfortunately, the name of Phil Jones was left out.

This is another blow for Jones, whose Manchester United career has completely faded away in recent years to the point where he is just an afterthought at this point of time.

It is to forget that when he arrived at the club more than a decade back he was considered as the next big thing in the England defence. It is safe to say that his career has not been as successful as the early expectations were.

Jones struggled to injury problems for a while but now seems to be fit. Also, he is still just 30 years of age. Thus, it will be very interesting to see how things turn out for him in the future, with his Manchester United deal running out next summer.
