Manchester United have been a mixed bag this season till now. They were terrible in the opening two games, losing against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, and convincingly at that. But things turned around, and the Red Devils went on a four game winning streak, including a 3-1 win over table toppers Arsenal. That was followed by a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad in their Europa League opener though.
Thus, it is safe to say that it looks like Manchester United are on the right path but there is still a lot of room for improvement as well.
One player who seems to have improved a lot under the management of Erik ten Hag is Diogo Dalot. He has firmly established himself as the first choice right-back at the club, to the point where Aaron Wan-Bissaka has barely featured this season till now.
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones had some high praise for Dalot as he said:
"“He’s been the most improved player of the season so far. And it might just get them through to that January window when they can reassess it.”"
Dalot has impressed for Manchester United this season
It is hard to believe that not too long ago, Dalot was almost certain to leave Manchester United. He struggled for playing time under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He came into the first-team picture since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick though and has stayed in the team, even though the German has left the club. And it does not look like that will change soon.
The right-back situation is far from ideal at Manchester United at the moment though. While Dalot seems to be the first-choice without a shadow of a doubt, there is no clear back up to him at the moment, with Wan-Bissaka looking completely out of the picture.
There have been some suggestions that Manchester United could make a move for Santiago Arias soon. Let’s see how that situation turns out.
