This summer transfer window was a very busy one for Manchester United but ultimately proved to be a successful one as well. The Red Devils started slow but where ultimately able to agree deals for Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Martin Dubravka. Only Chelsea splashed out more than them.

Thus, it is safe to say that Erik ten Hag has been backed this summer and consequently, the club will be expected results to match their investment. Let’s see if the Dutch manager is able to deliver or not.

At one point of the transfer window, things were not looking so rosy for Manchester United. The club were believed to have had a transfer bid accepted for Adrien Rabiot but could not agree a deal with the Frenchman himself. And it looks like another player on their radar was Leandro Paredes.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano while speaking on his YouTube channel, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain discussed a deal for Paredes. But the Red Devils decided to go for something different and the Argentine ended up at Juventus instead.

Ultimately, it ended up working out just fine for Manchester United, as they went on to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid for a transfer fee that could rise up to £70 million with add-ons.

The Brazilian defensive midfielder established himself as one of the best in the world during his time at Real Madrid and won five Champions League titles with Los Blancos.

Now, it will be interesting to see where Ten Hag fits him into the team because till now, it does not look like the manager has been able to find a role for Casemiro.

On the other hand, Paredes has ended up joining Juventus and has found himself as a starting defensive midfielder there.
