Manchester United are in a good position right now. Admittedly, they made a disastrous start to the season and lost the first two games in poor fashion. But since then, they have won four on the trot, which has included wins over Liverpool and table toppers Arsenal. Thus, it is safe to say that the Red Devils are looking like top four contenders once again.
The important thing for them though is to try and keep up this form. We have seen flashes of brilliance throughout the years but sooner or later, the wheels have fallen off once again. Let’s see if it will be a different story this time or not.
While the domestic competitions are important, Manchester United have a Europa League campaign to navigate through as well. And they have recently announced the squad for that with one surprise inclusion.
Manchester United confirmed their Europa League squad on their official website and it includes Facundo Pellistri.
Surprise name included in Manchester United’s Europa League squad
Pellistri is a player who was signed by Manchester United during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as manager, from Uruguayan club Penarol.
He has never managed to make his mark at the first-team level though, spending most of his time away on loan.
As a result, the fact that he was not sent out on loan this summer and has actually been included in the Manchester United squad for the Europa League is interesting. With a lot of games to be played in the competition where one would expect the Red Devils to field second string sides, there is a possibility that Pellistri could actually get some decent playing time.
Let’s see how things unfold. The Uruguayan winger is yet to show that he can produce the goods for Manchester United but he is just 20 years of age though, and has plenty of time on his side.
