Most of the rumours surrounding Manchester United at the moment are about signings, but at the same time, there are players heading in the opposite direction as well, and that is something that must be kept an eye on. One promising winger has completed a loan exit recently, as he searches for regular first-team football.

The player in question is Amad. He was signed from Atalanta with much fanfare and even made a bright start to life at Manchester United, scoring against AC Milan in the Europa League.

Things have faded away since then though, as the Ivory Coast international has struggled to break into the first-team picture at Old Trafford. He spent the second half of the previous season out on loan at Rangers, which was expected to be a great opportunity for him but instead, it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, as he struggled.

This time around, he has been sent on loan to the English Championship. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Amad is joining Sunderland on loan for the rest of the 2022/23 season, subject to registration.

Amad’s stats at the youth levels are remarkable but till now, it has not quite translated to the senior game.

Yes, he has shown flashes of brilliance, but they have been few and far between. Of course, one could argue that he has not been given enough opportunities to show what he is truly capable of.

Sunderland might be a good place for him to do that. The Black Cats are finally back in the Championship and would be expected to want to make another run for promotion this time as well.

One would expect that someone with the talent and potential of Amad would get plenty of chances there and hopefully, this loan spell will go better than the one at Rangers before this.
