Manchester United have certainly backed Erik ten Hag in this summer transfer window by signing some big names. On the other hand, the Red Devils have improve on the pitch recently as well, getting wins over Liverpool and Southampton, and once again, the fans’ hopes have been raised. Now, it remains to be seen if the team can deliver.

While the club have made significant additions over the summer, there are still some areas where they could do with further reinforcements. One of them is up front.

Edinson Cavani left at the end of his contract, and while it looks like Cristiano Ronaldo will stay on, they do not have a lot of depth in that area of the pitch. One player who could be a great option though is Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, who the La Liga giants seem to be very open to letting go.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano said about the situation:

"“Memphis Depay could be an opportunity until the last minute because we know that Barcelona are prepared to let him go on a free transfer in case he will reach an agreement with another club.”"

Manchester United have late chance to bring back former player

Depay enjoyed a brilliant spell at Lyon after his time at Manchester United was nothing to write home about.

Since joining Barcelona, he has had an up and down time though. Last summer, he was their marquee signing but since then, Xavi has become the manager of the club and Depay does not seem to be in the Spaniard’s plans at the moment.

Now, it remains to be seen if he ends up getting a move or not before the transfer window slams shut.

One has to point out that there is no doubt that his first stint at Manchester United was a flop but Depay is a completely different player now, who has proven himself at the club level as well as for the Netherlands national team. Thus, signing someone of his quality on a free transfer might be a masterstroke for most clubs around Europe.
