Amad arrived at Manchester United with a lot of expectations. Many even believed that he was good enough to go on to become one of the best players in the world one day. It is safe to say that things have not gone as smoothly for the Ivory Coast international.

Amad did make a solid start to life at Manchester United and even got an important Europa League goal to his name against AC Milan. He did not manage to make the first-team on a consistent basis though, despite his remarkable record at the youth level.

Thus, he was sent out on loan to Rangers in the second half of last season. Now, to be honest, it did not quite work out for him in Scotland and Amad was a bit of a disappointment, considering how highly he is rated. The Ivory Coast international is still just 21 years of age though and has plenty of time to find his feet at the senior level. Another loan spell could be in his future though.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland are in advanced talks with Manchester United for Amad on a season-long loan.

Sunderland are in talks with Manchester United to sign Amad

Sunderland could actually be a solid destination for someone like Amad. The club are finally back in the Championship and will be looking to make a run for promotion to the Premier League.

Thus, it might be a good opportunity for Amad to play English football in a competitive environment with something up for stake in every game.

That is what a young player needs to develop and get better. Thus, loaning him out to Sunderland would make the world of sense. Now, it remains to be seen if it ends up happening or not. The clock is ticking.
