Manchester United have brought their season back on track with wins over Liverpool and Southampton. On the other hand, Chelsea’s is falling apart, after they have dropped eight points from their first five games. The two could find themselves in the race to sign the same striker though, heading into the final few days of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United badly need a striker at the moment. Edinson Cavani left earlier in the summer while Cristiano Ronaldo could still complete a late exit. That would leave Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as the only players capable of playing up front and neither of them are natural strikers.

On the other hand, Chelsea have looked toothless up front this season and Raheem Sterling seems to be their only player capable of finding the back of the net at the moment. That needs to change for the Blues and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is believed to be their top target at striker.

Manchester United also seem to be keeping a close tab on the Barcelona star’s situation though. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Dharmesh Sheth said:

"“We know that United have asked to be kept informed, shall we say, on a number of players. One of those players includes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.“We know that there is an interest there. Quite how strong that interest is, is debatable, but we do know that they are just being asked to be kept informed on his situation because we also know that Chelsea are very strongly into Aubameyang as well.”"

It is safe to say that Chelsea are the favourites to sign Aubameyang, if he does in fact leave Barcelona this summer. He has already worked with Thomas Tuchel in the past and achieved quite a bit of success.

On the other hand, Manchester United have been linked with a stunning deal for Victor Osimhen recently, which has a lot of moving parts, and could see Ronaldo go in the opposite direction.

It is safe to say that the next few days could be very busy for Manchester United and important for the future of the club. A deal for Aubameyang seems unlikely but never say never in football.
