Manchester United interested in blockbuster €100 million striker
Manchester United have strengthened in several positions across the pitch this summer, whether it be in defence, midfield or even on the wings. But one area that has been pretty much overlooked till now is striker, and that might potentially be one that is in urgent need of reinforcements.
Edinson Cavani left the club in the summer at the end of his contract, and the future of Cristiano Ronaldo is pretty much up in the air as well and there have been suggestions that he could seal an exit before deadline day.
If Ronaldo did end up leaving, it would leave a severe lack of options up front for Manchester United though, with the only two players capable of playing there being Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, and both are converted strikers.
Thus, it would be a good idea for Manchester United to make a move for a striker and one player who seems to be in their sights is Victor Osimhen of Napoli. Interestingly, Ronaldo has been linked with a loan move to the Italian side. As Florian Plettenburg tweeted out:
Can Manchester United sign Osimhen from Napoli?
To be very honest, it is hard to see Manchester United having a chance of signing Osimhen from Napoli this summer.
The Italian club are already a notoriously tough team to negotiate with when it comes to transfers and on top of that, they have already lost key players this summer and must be keen to hold onto someone like Osimhen.
And to top it all off, there are just a few days left in the summer transfer window and as a result, no real time to bring in a replacement if they did let Osimhen join Manchester United.
Thus, while a future move to Manchester United does not seem unrealistic, do not expect to see Osimhen playing his football at the Theatre of Dreams anytime soon. It is also expected to take a transfer fee higher than €100 million to sign the Nigerian striker.
