Cristiano Ronaldo ready to leave Manchester United and join former club
Cristiano Ronaldo’s dream return to Manchester United has turned into a nightmare in recent times. The Portuguese superstar put up decent numbers last season but his performances did leave a lot to be desired. He was also unable to inspire the Red Devils to a trophy or a top four finish, when they had been considered as Premier League contenders at the start of the season.
They made a terrible start this time around, but have steadied the ship significantly with back-to-back wins over Liverpool and Southampton. Ronaldo’s future at the club remains a doubt though.
Ronaldo has been linked with a move away all summer and been linked with clubs like Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, AS Roma, AC Milan, PSG and several more, but nothing has come off till now, as there does not seem to be a lot of interest in his signature in the legend, at 37 years of age. He might end up deciding to go back where it all started though.
As reported by Marca, the Portuguese has decided that the best option is none other than to go back, return to the origins, that is, look towards Sporting CP.
Ronaldo is ready to return to former club and bring an end to Manchester United run
Of course, letting someone like Ronaldo go has huge consequences, both on and off the pitch, as he remains the biggest star in the game, even if his performances have faded in recent years.
At the same time though, Erik ten Hag is rumoured to have given the green light to Ronaldo leaving the club. It does not look like the Portuguese legend is a big part of his current plans to be honest.
Thus, it remains to be seen how things play out and whether Ronaldo really manages to make a return to Sporting CP.
