Manchester United will know the need to bring in more players this summer if they are to compete for a top four spot. While the Red Devils have lost both their games till now, it is not too late to turn things around and a long season is ahead, where things can swing at the drop of a dime.
While incomings are important, so are outgoings as there are a number of players at Manchester United, who have very little chance of getting much first-team football this season and as a result, a move away from Old Trafford would be best for all parties involved.
One such player is Eric Bailly. The Ivory Coast defender had arrived from Villarreal back in 2016 with high expectations, but has never managed to find his feet at the club. When fit and in form, he is a very good player, but unfortunately, he has had terrible luck when it comes to injuries.
On top of that, the club have also brought in Lisandro Martinez, which will further reduce Bailly’s first-team chances. Thus, leaving Old Trafford this summer might be the best step for his future.
Manchester United have reached full agreement with Marseille over move
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Marseille and Manchester United have full agreement on loan with buy obligation clause in case of Champions League for next season, but personal terms are currently not agreed with Bailly. The final decision is expected soon.
It remains to be seen if Bailly ends up joining Marseille or not, but it could be the right step for the Ivory Coast international.
One would expect Bailly to nail down a spot in their starting XI, if he can remain fit and they are always competing to finish in the top four of Ligue 1, so potential Champions League football must be an added incentive as well.
