Things are suddenly looking up for Manchester United once again. The club have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid this summer. It is believed that the Red Devils will be shelling out a transfer fee that could reach up to £70 million with add-ons. That is significant to say the least, especially for a 30-year-old.
But after chasing Frenkie de Jong all summer and not really getting anywhere, the club needed to make a statement and they have, by signing the 5-time Champions League winner. It will go a long way in solving their problems in the middle of the park, and Casemiro is an upgrade on every other option that they have got at the moment, in terms of quality as well as experience.
Manchester United are not expected to stop there though and seem to be chasing a winger as well. Once again, they have struggled to sign their top target, who is believed to have been Antony.
But as reported by The Telegraph, Manchester Untied are set to submit a bid for Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven and expect to complete a £34 million deal.
Manchester United are ready to submit bid for PSV Eindhoven star
Gakpo is coming off of an exceptional season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 21 goals and 15 assists in 47 appearances for PSV in the previous campaign.
He has started this one in superb form as well. As a result, if Manchester United are able to sign him, it would be a major coup on the part of the club.
Gakpo is still just 23 years of age and has every tool required to be a top star in the Premier League. If Manchester United are able to sign him for a transfer fee around £34 million, it could prove to be a bargain in the long run, if the Dutch international is able to fulfil his potential.
