It would be an understatement to say that Manchester United have made a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign. The club lost 2-1 at Old Trafford vs Brighton & Hove Albion in the very first game of the season. Things somehow got worse after that, as Brentford beat the Red Devils 4-0.

Thus, Erik ten Hag’s side are not only winless after the first two league games of the season, but they have also been outplayed on both occasions by teams that they were expected to beat.

On top of that, the future of Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be up in the air. The Portuguese superstar has not looked great on the pitch, amidst rumours that he wants to leave this summer. It is believed that Manchester United want to keep him at Old Trafford though, with another year left on his contract, with the option for a further year.

A bizarre rumour broke out recently though that the club were considering terminating the Portuguese superstar’s contract if his performances on the pitch did not improve. There does not seem to be any truth to it though.

Manchester United deny Ronaldo contract rumour

As reported by the Express, Manchester United have denied reports suggesting that they are considering terminating Ronaldo’s contract.

It is not understand why that would be the case either. Ronaldo might no longer be the player that he once was but he still finished the previous campaign as Manchester United’s top goalscorer and came up with several big moments as well.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ronaldo scored 24 goals and provided 3 assists in 38 appearances for Manchester United last season.

On top of that, one cannot deny the commercial value that Ronaldo brings to the club as well, and that might be one of the biggest reasons why they are so reluctant to let him leave, even if things are not working out on the pitch.
