Manchester United need to make additions all over the pitch, especially up top. The Red Devils have made a disastrous start to the Erik ten Hag era, losing both their Premier League games till now, against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, and in convincing fashion. On top of that, none of their players has scored yet, with their only goal this season till now being an own goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo has looked nowhere near his best for a while and on top of that, his future at Old Trafford is very much up in the air. The Portuguese legend is believed to be keen on exit and judging by their displays till now, it is not hard to see why.

On the other hand, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho do not look like players who will be able to score consistently this season. Fortunately, it looks like Manchester United might be about to add to their options up top soon.

As tweeted out by talkSPORT, Manchester United are close to signing Atletico Madrid star, Matheus Cunha. The transfer fee is believed to be around €50 million.

To be honest, that is a big transfer fee to pay for a player who has not been the most free scoring of forwards.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Cunha scored 7 goals and provided 6 assists in 37 appearances for Atletico Madrid across all competitions last season.

Thus, it is hard to see him coming in and immediately proving to be the solution for Manchester United’s problems up top.

Cunha is just 23 years of age though and would be expected to get better. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid are not a team known for their attacking prowess, but instead their incredible discipline and dedication to Diego Simeone’s solid game plan.
