Manchester United negotiating with Barcelona over defender

One of the positions where Manchester United might need to strengthen this summer is right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has not been able to improve going forward and as a result, his future at Old Trafford is in doubt. Diogo Dalot has done a decent job in recent times but it does feel like it is an area of the pitch where the Red Devils can improve further.

One player who appears to be in their sights is Sergino Dest of Barcelona. The La Liga giants had signed him from Ajax but he has not been brilliant during his time at Camp Nou. That has not stopped him from being linked with clubs around Europe though.

Manchester United appear to hold an interest in the United States international while Chelsea have also been linked with him in recent times.

As reported by SPORT, Barcelona is already negotiating Dest’s exit with Manchester United, and are looking for a transfer fee around €20 million. The Red Devils are keen to lower that figure and have offered a player.

Dest might not have been spectacular during his time at Barcelona but it is important to remember that he is still just 21 years of age and has plenty of time on his hands to develop his game further.

Thus, someone like him could be a solid signing for Manchester United. He can also play on the opposite side of the pitch and will bring qualities to the table which their other right-backs do not have at this moment of time.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United are able to get a deal over the line for Dest or not. The defender’s chances at Barcelona are expected to be limited next season and as a result, an exit might be the best step for him as well.
