Manchester United are in need of bringing in a striker this summer. The club do not have an abundance of options at the moment who can bring them goals. Cristiano Ronaldo was their top scorer last season but it is quite clear that he is nowhere near his best at 37 years of age. On top of that, the Portuguese superstar is also being linked with a move away in search of Champions League football.

Edinson Cavani has left the club at the end of his contract. And while Anthony Martial has shown glimpses that he could end up rediscovering his form, it might be a bit too much to ask him to be the main man up top.

As a result, the best case scenario would involve Manchester United signing another striker this summer. Interestingly, they are believed to have failed in an attempt to sign Marko Arnautovic, which suggests that the Red Devils might not be looking to splash out on a forward. They might have a Paris Saint-Germain player in their sights though.

As reported by TyC Sports, Manchester United and Galatasaray have Mauro Icardi on their radar. It looks like there is no place for the Argentine striker at PSG this season.

Manchester United have PSG striker on their radar

Icardi was one of Europe’s best strikers during his time at Inter Milan, but he has failed to produce those kind of performances since joining PSG.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Icardi has scored 38 goals and provided 10 assists in 92 appearances for PSG.

Now 29 years of age, this might be his last big move, and last opportunity to fulfil his potential as well. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United are ultimately able to sign the Argentine striker. He will certainly bring something different to the table, if he does arrive.
