Midfield has been an area of weakness for Manchester United for a long time. It was a surprise when they did not sign a midfielder last summer and considering how the season turned out for the Red Devils, that might have been a huge mistake on their part. On top of that, the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata have departed Old Trafford this summer, further weakening the middle of the park.

Thus, it is clear that Manchester United need to make an addition in midfield and it looks like they could be finally closing in on making a signing.

As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. A deal is not complete yet though, with personal terms still to be negotiated.

The Italian club are believed to be satisfied with letting the French international leave, with his current contract running out next summer.

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign the Juventus star

When Rabiot arrived at Juventus back in 2019, many expected him to develop into one of the best midfielders in Europe. He was very highly rated during his time with PSG.

It is safe to say that things have not quite turned out that way and Rabiot has disappointed in Juventus colours.

As a result, it is a bit of a surprise that Manchester United want to sign him to fix their problems in midfield. They have been linked with Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona all summer but that has proven difficult to pull off.

It must be pointed out though, that it is believed that Manchester United have not given up on De Jong yet. Chelsea are also being heavily linked with the Barcelona midfielder in recent days.

On the other hand, Rabiot is still just 27 years of age and perhaps a move to Manchester United could be great for him.
