The midfield situation is far from ideal at Manchester United right now. The club have signed Christian Eriksen this summer but more work is needed. It was considered to be an area of weakness for the Red Devils for years and on top of that, the likes of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic have ended up leaving this summer.

Thus, Manchester United need to make additions there. Unfortunately, their chase for Frenkie de Jong has dragged on for much longer than anticipated, as it looks like the player himself might not be too keen on swapping Camp Nou for Old Trafford. On top of that, Chelsea appear to be chasing his signature as well.

So, it might be a good idea for Manchester United to have alternative targets and one players that they had been linked with recently is Fabian Ruiz of Napoli. But now, it looks like they are set to be handed a blow in that regard as well.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, a deal that will see Ruiz join Paris Saint-Germain is set to be completed soon.

Manchester United handed another transfer blow

Ruiz would have been a very good addition to Manchester United. He has all the attributes required to be a success in Erik ten Hag’s system. On top of that, he has only a year left on his deal with Napoli and as a result, might have been available for a bargain transfer fee.

But now, it looks like PSG are set to get a deal done for him instead, in what will come as another blow for the Red Devils, who are not having the easiest of times this summer when it comes to getting deals over the line.

One can only hope that they are able to make more additions to their midfield soon. Time is running out quickly and the Premier League season is already underway too.
