Manchester United have been linked with a number of players this summer as there are a number of areas where they need to improve their squad in. First of all, this is a team that has not won a single trophy in five seasons now. Secondly, they have seen players like Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard depart at the end of their contracts this summer.

Thus, if Manchester United are to succeed, they will need to back Erik ten Hag in rebuilding the squad. Till now, they have done a decent enough job at that by signing Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia, but more is needed.

One of the players that they have been heavily linked with is Antony of Ajax. While the Brazilian would be a very good signing for the Red Devils, the Dutch club are believed to be looking for a huge transfer fee to let him leave. It does look like Ten Hag has another similar player in his sights though.

As tweeted out by Nabil Djellit, Ten Hag wants to sign Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech at Manchester United.

Ziyech was one of Ten Hag’s most important players at Ajax, before he left for Chelsea. He had played a huge part when the Dutch club managed to defy all expectations and make it to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Ziyech has not hard a terrific time at Chelsea though. He has shown glimpses of his quality here and there, but ultimately, he has never managed to establish himself as a regular starter under the management of Thomas Tuchel. His injury problems have played a part in that as well.

He still has come up with some big moments though and played a part in Chelsea’s successes over the past couple of seasons.

Chelsea are believed to be open to letting him go this summer and he has been linked with a move to AC Milan recently. It remains to be seen if Manchester United decide to throw their name in the hat as well.
