Manchester United offered chance to sign Bayern Munich star

Manchester United are a club in need of bringing in new players this summer. The club have not won a single piece of silverware in five seasons now and need to undergo a squad overhaul, after seeing players such as Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and others leave. Cristiano Ronaldo is being heavily linked with an exit as well.

If new Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, is to be a success at Old Trafford, the club will need to back him in the summer transfer window. And till now, they have signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez. The club are also being linked with players like Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona and Antony of Ajax at the moment.

There is another player that they might have the chance to sign this summer and that is Benjamin Pavard of Bayern Munich.

As reported by SPORT1, Pavard was offered to Manchester United and Chelsea a few days ago.

Pavard has been a regular part of the Bayern Munich side in recent times but could have a tougher time getting in next season, with the club signing Matthijs de Ligt. Thus, the German club might be very open to seeing the French World Cup winner leave this summer.

Pavard’s biggest strength is his versatility. He can play at centre-back as well as right-back with equal ease. Thus, he might be an attractive option to Chelsea, who could see club captain Cesar Azpilicueta leave for Barcelona this summer. They have already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

On the other hand, bringing in Pavard does not make a lot of sense for Manchester United at this point of time, as there are other positions which are in more urgent need of reinforcements.
