Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Antony of Ajax recently. The Brazilian shined under the management of Erik ten Hag at the Dutch club and as a result, it is not hard to understand why the Red Devils might be keen to bring him to Old Trafford. But it has proven difficult to agree a deal for him till now.

Ajax have already let a number of their star players leave this summer, including Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United. Thus, they do not seem keen to let Antony go as well and rumours have suggested that it would take a transfer fee around €80 million to convince them to part ways with the Brazilian star.

That is a steep figure though, especially as Manchester United are chasing a big money move for Frenkie de Jong as well. So, the Red Devils should have their eyes on alternative targets as well.

One player who could very well be available this summer for a bargain transfer fee is Marco Asensio of Real Madrid and Manchester United should keep an eye on the situation of the Spanish international.

When Asensio first broke into the Real Madrid team, he was expected to be a superstar. He has never been able to fulfil that early promise though.

His current deal with Real Madrid is believed to run out next summer and as a result, he could very well be on his way out of the club soon.

The likes of Newcastle United and AC Milan have been linked with a move for Asensio, but Manchester United should through their name into the hat as well.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 42 appearances last season for Real Madrid, while he was on the pitch for 2110 minutes in total.

That is one of his most productive seasons in a Real Madrid shirt. On top of that, Asensio is just 26 years of age as well and has plenty more room to develop if he gets regular playing time somewhere.
