Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United has ended up becoming one of the most fascinating storylines of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League as they finished 6th in the Premier League last season and it appears that the Portuguese legend would like to continue playing on in Europe’s elite competition.

Ronaldo does not seem to be having great luck at finding a move away from Old Trafford though. Over recent weeks, rumours have ruled out moves to the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

While the 37-year-old is still a very good player, and was Manchester United’s top scorer last season, there does not seem to be a lot of interest in his signature at this point of time. That did not stop him from being linked with a stunning move to Atletico Madrid though.

Considering the Portuguese superstar’s history with Real Madrid, a move to their crosstown rivals would be a surprise to say the least. And as reported by Marca, Atletico Madrid see the signing of Ronaldo as unfeasible right now.

Ronaldo appears to be running out of options to leave Manchester United

Ronaldo is one of the highest paid players in the world even at the age of 37 and if he was to leave, one would expect Manchester United to try to recoup the transfer fee that they shelled out to sign him from Juventus last summer.

Also, there are question marks about Ronaldo and what he brings to a team at this stage of his career. One cannot overlook the fact that both Juventus and Manchester United have taken a step back following the Portuguese legend’s arrival.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ronaldo, but at this point of time, it feels likely that he will continue on at Manchester United next season.
