Manchester United have been linked with a long list of players this summer with a major rebuild needed at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have not won a single piece of silverware in five seasons now and new manager, Erik ten Hag, would surely be looking to bring that run to an end as soon as possible. Till now though, they have been successful in signing only two players: Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

The club have also been heavily linked with a move for Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona but a few hurdles still remain in that potential deal.

Another player that Manchester United had been linked with on-and-off for months is Paulo Dybala. The Argentine had left Juventus this summer and was available as a free agent. Thus, a move would have made a lot of sense.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Dybala has accepted AS Roma’s offer and will be joining Jose Mourinho’s side on a three year deal.

Dybala was expected to be the heir to Lionel Messi in the Argentine national team but his development has stalled over the past few years and he has never been able to take that next step.

He is still just 28 years of age though and in a team like AS Roma, where everything could be built around him, Dybala might finally realise his true potential.

Someone like Dybala could have proven to be a solid signing for Manchester United as he is someone who, on top of his game, can be one of the best players in the world. But the Argentine is headed to AS Roma and it will be interesting to see what he can do under the management of Mourinho.
