Manchester United have not had the easiest time getting transfers done this summer. The club have been linked with a number of top players over the past few weeks and months, but till now, they have only been able to sign Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. Thus, the situation must be a bit worrying for the Red Devils as we slowly creep towards the start of the Premier League campaign.

It should not come as a surprise that Manchester United have been linked with a number of Ajax players this summer, considering Ten Hag’s history with the Dutch club.

One such player is Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine international was a standout for Ajax during his time under the management of Ten Hag. Could a reunion at Old Trafford possibly be on the cards? The player certainly seems keen although he has been linked with Arsenal as well.

As reported by the Mirror, Martinez is ready to force his way out of Ajax to seal a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils will have to increase their current £43 million transfer offer though, with Ajax looking for a fee around £50 million to part ways with the Argentine star.

Martinez hands Manchester United major transfer boost

The fact that Martinez himself seems to be keen on a move to Manchester United is a huge boost for the club, considering that has not appeared to be the case with everyone this summer.

Now, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils are able to agree a transfer fee with Ajax for the defender.

Centre-back has been an area of weakness for Manchester United for a while and the signing of Raphael Varane was not able to solve that problem. It remains to be seen if someone like Martinez can prove to be the answer although it must be said that there will be questions about his size, as the Argentine stands at 5′ 9″, which is pretty short for a centre-back at a top European club.
