Manchester United were expected to come out of the gates fast in this summer transfer window following the arrival of Erik ten Hag as the club’s new manager. But that has not been the case for the Red Devils at all. While they have been linked with a wide number of players, the Premier League giants have not been able to get deals over the line. That could be about to change soon though.

The latest name that Manchester United have been linked with is Tyrell Malacia. The Netherlands international left-back currently plays for Feyenoord and it is believed that the Red Devils have agreed a deal around €17 million to sign him.

Malacia had looked to be destined for a move to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon, but that looks to be very much off the table now and Manchester United appear to have won the race for his signature instead.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said about the Malacia to Manchester United situation:

"“Malacia is a done deal. We’re just waiting for the second part of the medical to take place on Monday and then it will be done, but everything is almost completed.”"

Manchester United are set to complete first signing of the Ten Hag era soon

Signing Malacia would be a major boost for Manchester United, as left-back has been viewed as an area of worry in recent times.

A year ago, it had looked like Luke Shaw was the long-term answer there as he was coming off of the best season of his career and had looked like one of the best left-backs in the world during the UEFA EURO 2020.

His form has dipped significantly since then though and there are question marks over whether Alex Telles in the guy to play there for Manchester United for the foreseeable future. Thus, signing a left-back is not a bad move for the club although there are other positions on the pitch which might be in more urgent need of reinforcements.
