A new striker has to be near the top of Erik ten Hag’s transfer wishlist at Manchester United this summer. Edinson Cavani is set to leave the club while Anthony Martial has struggled in front of goal for a while, both for the Red Devils and while away on loan at Sevilla. Cristiano Ronaldo had a decent time at Old Trafford last season but even he is nowhere near his best anymore, and at 37 years of age, is starting to slow down.

Thus, Manchester United must bring in a new striker this summer if they are to catch up with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

The Red Devils were believed to have had a long-term interest in Erling Haaland but he has joined Manchester City this summer. Darwin Nunez is a player Ten Hag was believed to have had his eyes on but the Uruguayan striker has joined Liverpool from Benfica.

Now though, it looks like the Red Devils have shifted their focus towards a Brazilian striker. As reported by Record (via Mirror), Manchester United have submitted an opening offer of around €60million (£52 million) for FC Porto’s Evanilson. It looks like that won’t be enough to sign the Brazilian striker though. The Portuguese club are said to value him at a transfer fee around €100 million but could accept a bid in the region of €70 million (£60 million).

Manchester United made big offer for Brazilian striker but that might not be enough

Evanilson had quite the season at FC Porto last time around. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 21 goals and provided 5 assists in 46 appearances across all compeition.

That seems to have caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Manchester United.

There would be heavy risk involved in any move for Evanilson though, as he has never played in one of the top five leagues in Europe and was not very good on the continental stage last season.
