With the arrival of Erik ten Hag as manager, a lot of things are expected to change at Manchester United. The Dutchman has been handed the job with hopes that he can take the club back to their glory days but if he is to do that, he will need to be backed to the full extent, as this is a team that has not won a single piece of silverware over the past five seasons.

While new signings are required, another important aspect of Ten Hag’s job will be to get the best out of the players already at Manchester United. And in this respect, one name stands out.

Donny van de Beek had arrived at Manchester United with a lot of hopes in the summer of 2020. It would be an understatement to say that it has not worked out and he spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign out on loan at Everton.

Fans would be hoping that Ten Hag’s arrival will unlock the best of Van de Beek, as the Dutch midfielder had established himself as one of the best young players in the world during his time at Ajax under the manager. Thus, while expectations are high, it looks like the player himself might have different plans.

Manchester United star wants shock exit despite Ten Hag’s arrival as manager

As reported by Corriere della Sera (via Mirror), Van de Beek wants Manchester United exit despite the change of manager as it looks like the last few seasons have helped make the Dutchman’s mind.

Van de Beek had arrived with a lot of expectations, and many believed that he could be the potential replacement for Pogba in the long run. But while the French midfield maestro seems to be on his way out of Old Trafford, the Dutchman might not be far behind.

Most people would have expected him to want to stay on, as a reunion with Ten Hag might be just what he needs at this point of time, but it looks like that might not be the case.
