Most of the rumours surrounding Manchester United have been about the club bringing in new players. That is understandable as well as the club will need to strengthen their squad significantly over the course of the summer if Erik ten Hag is going to have any chance of succeeding at Old Trafford and taking the Red Devils back to the top of English football once again.

At the same time though, there are players who will have to head out of the Old Trafford exit door. The likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and a few more are expected to be among those leaving.

Another name who was believed to be on that list is that of Andreas Pereira. After struggling to find his feet at the senior level for years, he had shown a lot of promise while out on loan at Flamengo and it was believed that the Brazilian club were looking to make the switch permanent.

That won’t be happening now though as it appears that the deal has collapsed. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, the player’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci told Vene Casagrande that Pereira will be returning to European football:

Manchester United transfer has collapsed and won’t be happening

Thus, it appears that the Manchester United transfer exit won’t be happening and Pereira will return to the club, although an eventual exit cannot be ruled out.

While coming through the youth ranks, Pereira was very highly rated and expected to become a first-team star for Manchester United in the future.

While he has gotten his chances at Old Trafford, he has never been able to reach that level though and struggled at the senior level. And with the proposed move to Flamengo collapsing, it appears to be back to square one for him.
