Manchester United make Ruben Neves transfer decision
Midfield has been viewed as an area of weakness for Manchester United for a while now. Even last summer, they were heavily linked with a move for a midfielder and although they did sign superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, they did not make an addition in the middle of the park. With Erik ten Hag arriving as the new manager, one would expect that to change this summer.
There are expected to be some fresh voids in midfield as well, with Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic looking set to depart Old Trafford in the summer.
The club have been linked with several midfielders over the last few weeks and months. One player that they have been linked with for years now though is Wolves’ Ruben Neves, although a move has never materialised. It does not look like it is still off the table though.
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United are on the verge of making a final push to sign Neves. The Red Devils are believed to have seen a move for the Portuguese international turned away in January and are looking to go again in the next couple of weeks with Erik ten Hag believed to be a big fan. Barcelona are also in the running to sign the Wolves midfielder though.
Manchester United make final Neves transfer decision
It is easy to forget but Neves is still just 25 years of age. He is already a senior Wolves player though, having joined the club back in 2017.
Thus, Neves has plenty of experience in the English game and has been one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the Premier League for a long time now.
His current deal with Wolves runs till the summer of 2024, thus the club might have to consider letting him go soon unless he agrees a contract extension soon.
This could be Manchester United’s opportunity to swoop in and finally make a move for Neves happen. Let’s see how things turn out over the coming weeks and months.
