Manchester United need to add a lot to their squad over the course of the summer transfer window. The club has failed to win a single piece of silverware for five seasons now and it is safe to say that several changes are needed, all over the pitch. They need to bring in experience, with players like Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and a few more on their way out. At the same time, they need to bring in youth as well though.
One area that has emerged as a bit of a problem for Manchester United in recent times is right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka arrived with expectations of him being the starter there for the next decade but has not been able to improve going forward.
On the other hand, Diogo Dalot has played quite a bit in recent times, after it had looked like he had no future at Old Trafford earlier in the season, but there are still question marks about whether he is good enough to be a regular starter for Manchester United.
Rio Ferdinand has told the club to go after a 22-year-old right-back in the form of Max Aarons. As reported by the Daily Mail, the Manchester United legend said on his Vibe With FIVE YouTube Show:
"‘Someone like Max Aarons you could put him like a Chris Smalling-type signing where they come in and they have an impact.‘They may not be straight starters immediately but they go and they stay there for 10 years and have a really good career and they impact the club at different levels.’"
Ferdinand tells Manchester United to sign 22-year-old star
Someone like Aarons could certainly be an interesting signing for Manchester United at this point of time, considering their circumstances.
He has been very highly rated at Norwich City for a long time but at 22 years of age, it might be time for him to take the next step and make a move to a Premier League regular.
Even Manchester United have been linked with him extensively in the past but a move has just quite never materialised. It remains to be seen if they try to sign him in the future again.
