Manchester United are heading towards the summer transfer window knowing that the squad needs a major overhaul after finishing five straight seasons without a single piece of silverware. Erik ten Hag will surely be looking to make several changes as he looks to take the Red Devils back to the top.

One area that needs rebuilding is midfield and one player who has been linked with Manchester United for quite some time now is AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni, who has emerged as one of the most exciting young midfielders in world football today.

But it looks like there is going to be some heavy competition for the signature of the Frenchman, especially from Real Madrid, who will be looking to make an impact this summer, after losing out on the chance to sign Kylian Mbappe, who has decided to extend his deal with Paris Saint-Germain instead.

As reported by Marca, Real Madrid’s primary objective now would be to try and finalise the signing of Tchouameni.

Real Madrid are now targeting Manchester United target, after losing out on Mbappe

Manchester United might have been linked with Tchouameni for a while but there are other midfielders who are believed to be on their radar as well. Some of these names are that of Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Jude Bellingham, Frenkie de Jong and a few more.

Thus, whether Real Madrid end up signing Tchouameni or not, it is safe to say that Manchester United fans can expect the club to strengthen their midfield.

There are several other areas of the squad which need reinforcements as well though as it has become clear throughout the course of this season, and the past several years to be honest, that Manchester United are nowhere near ready to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool right now.
