David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the most famous footballers in history. Incidentally, they are also two of the best to ever wear the number 7 shirt for Manchester United and there is that connection there.

Having come through the youth ranks at Manchester United and having made his name there, one would expect Beckham to have an eye on the club and how things are going for the Red Devils.

It has been another disastrous season for Manchester United to say the least. For the five straight time, they are set to finish without a trophy. They have missed out on a Champions League spot and not only that, but they could end up finishing out of the Europa League spots as well if results don’t go their way.

Thus, it is safe to say that Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the club has not gone as the Portuguese legend would have expected and he is already being linked with an Old Trafford exit. Beckham seems to be hoping though that he stays on. As reported by the Mirror, while attending the Miami GP, the former Manchester United megastar said to Sky Sports:

"“He [Ronaldo] is still doing what he does best; scoring goals and creating.“To be doing what he is doing at his age is really incredible, so hopefully it continues and he stays for another year or two.”"

Beckham wants Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United

While Ronaldo still has a contract with the club, it will be very interesting to see what he wants to do moving forward. Surely he would not be too keen to play his final few years in the Europa League or potentially, the Conference League.

At the same time, a lot could end up depending on Erik ten Hag as well and what he sees as the future of this team.

The new manager is expected to want to rebuild the squad in his vision, as he should and it remains to be seen if Ronaldo is a part of the Dutchman’s plans at the Theatre of Dreams.
