Manchester United are expected to undergo a squad transformation as Erik ten Hag arrives as the club’s new manager. It is pretty clear that it is time for some change after the Red Devils are set to finish their fifth straight season without a single piece of silverware.

One area of the squad that might need immediate reinforcements is striker. Cristiano Ronaldo has had an up and down season, and he is 37 years of age. On the other hand, Edinson Cavani is expected to be leaving the club in the summer. And who knows what the future holds for Anthony Martial.

Thus, it should come as a surprise to anyone if Manchester United go after a striker this summer and one player that they have been linked with recently is Stade Reims’ Huge Ekitike.

As reported by ESPN, Manchester United have made an enquiry over Ekitike but Bayern Munich are also in the running for the signature of the exciting teenager.

Manchester United do need to bring in some youth up front in the summer and someone like Ekitike could be the perfect signing in that regard.

He has enjoyed a breakout season in the Ligue 1 with Stade Reims and appears to have all the attributes to be one of the top strikers in the future.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances this season. That is very impressive for a player who is still just 19 years of age.

If Manchester United end up signing Ekitike, it has the potential to be an incredible long-term signing on their part, depending on how his game develops moving forward. But at the same time, it must be pointed out that the race for his signature is not expected to be easy with clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United also believed to hold an interest in the player.
