Manchester United have been linked with a move for Declan Rice for a long time now without it ever transpiring. In that period of time, the West Ham United star has gone on to establish himself as one of the best in the middle of the park in the entire Premier League and a massive part of the England national team.

It is expected though that sooner or later, Rice would be headed out of West Ham United. Other than Manchester United, the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have also been heavily linked with him.

But as reported by ESPN, Manchester United are likely to have a clear run to signing Rice this summer but it will be a test of the pulling power of the Red Devils.

Despite being one of the biggest clubs in the world, Manchester United have not been a very successful team since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. In fact, they have finished trophyless in five straight seasons now. Thus, it is not hard to see why Rice might have question marks over a move to Old Trafford.

Can Manchester United sign Rice from West Ham United?

One has to consider the other side of the coin here as well. Will Manchester United consider a move for Rice this summer when you take into account the fact that West Ham United are believed to be looking for a transfer fee north of £100 million for him. Some rumours even suggest that the figure could be as high as £150 million.

Rice is a brilliant player but one has to admit that there are better deals to be made, especially for a club like Manchester United, who might need to strengthen all over the pitch.

Erik ten Hag will be the new manager of the club and he is expected to be looking to rebuild this squad in his own vision. He did a wonderful job at Ajax and one would hope that he can repeat the trick at Manchester United as well.
