It is quite clear that Manchester United will need to undergo a massive overhaul of their squad this summer. The current one has underdelivered for years, are set to finish the fifth straight season without a single piece of silverware and it is time for change, especially with Erik ten Hag set to arrive as the new manager of the club soon. It is believed that the club will let him rebuild the squad in his own vision.

One of the first areas that might need revamping in this team is the midfield. Manchester United have been linked with an addition there for years but have never quite gotten one over the line.

But with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic looking pretty much set to leave at the end of the season, it is definitely time for additions there.

And as reported by The Sun, Ten Hag wants James Ward-Prowse to be the one to boss Manchester United’s new midfield. It could take a transfer fee around £75 million to sign the Southampton star though.

Ten Hag wants Manchester United to sign Ward-Prowse

Ward-Prowse has been one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the Premier League for a long time now even though he might have not have got a move to a big club till now. That could change this summer though. Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is believed to be a big fan of the Southampton star as well.

Having come through the Southampton  youth ranks, Ward-Prowse has spent his entire senior career with the Saints till now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 361 appearances for the club, scoring 43 goals and providing 48 assists.

If Manchester United are able to sign him, it would be considered as a major boost but it won’t be easy to pull a move off.
