Christopher Nkunku has emerged as an absolute superstar this season, with the RB Leipzig star showing his incredible quality in both the Bundesliga and in Europe, where he scored a hattrick against Manchester City in the Champions League. Thus, it should not come as any surprise that some of the biggest clubs on the planet are interested in signing him, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils are in need of a overhaul of their squad after they are set to finish trophyless for the fifth straight season. It is pretty clear that changes are needed, with players both leaving and arriving.

If Manchester United are able to sign someone like Nkunku, it would be considered as a major coup on their part. But it looks like it would be very, very difficult to pull it off this summer.

As reported by But! Football Club, RB Leipzig appear to be hoping to keep Nkunku at the club for another season and there is no question of letting him go for a transfer fee less than €100 million this summer. The situation could be different next time around though.

Should Manchester United make a move for Nkunku this summer?

Nkunku has been one of the most in-form players in the world this season and has proven himself in Germany as well as in Europe. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 30 goals and provided 20 assists in 47 appearances for RB Leipzig across all competitions this season.

That is simply stunning and it is not hard to see why a club like Manchester United, in need of some major change, would be interested in a player like Nkunku.

But it might be worth waiting another year than to splash out a €100 transfer fee on the Frenchman this summer. No matter how good he has been, there would be a huge amount of risk involved in any move of that magnitude. We have all seen how Jadon Sancho has struggled to match his Borussia Dortmund displays since arriving at Manchester United.
