Manchester United will need a revamp of their squad, as it looks pretty much certain that Erik ten Hag will be the next permanent manager of the club. It is safe to say that the Dutchman will have a huge job on his hands though, as this is a side that is set to finish trophyless for the fifth straight season now.

Thus, changes are needed all over the pitch from back to front. And while Cristiano Ronaldo might have scored a couple of hattricks recently, it has become through the course of the season that he is not the answer for Manchester United.

On the other hand, Edinson Cavani is expected to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract comes to an end. Thus, do not be surprised to see Manchester United to try to sign another striker in the summer. Could that man be Robert Lewandowski though?

As reported by SPORT (via Sport Witness), Manchester United have contacted Lewandowski’s camp to make their interest known.

Manchester United have made contact for Lewandowski

Interestingly, Manchester United have made it a habit of signing strikers well beyond their 30th birthdays in recent times. Even before Ronaldo and Cavani, they had brought Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club.

Is a 33-year-old Lewandowski the answer to Manchester United’s problems going forward though?

That is certainly an interesting question because on one hand, he might very well be the best striker in the world right now. But on the other hand, he has shown signs of slowing down in recent months and has had his struggles with injuries in back-to-back seasons now.

Thus, the Premier League giants have to be careful before making a move for the Polish striker, as just like Ronaldo and Cavani, he does not look like a long-term solution for the Red Devils.
