Manchester United are in need of a huge rebuild, both on and off the pitch. The Red Devils are expected to bring in a new manager, with Erik ten Hag looking like the favourite to get the role at the moment. But, there are reinforcements needed all over the squad as well, as the club are set to finish their fifth straight season without a trophy. A run like this would have been unthinkable during the time of Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford hot seat.

One area where Manchester United have needed to strengthen in for a while now is their midfield. In fact, they were expected to sign a midfielder in the previous two transfer windows but did not end up doing so either time.

If or when a new manager arrives, the Red Devils must look to sign a new midfielder though and it appears that they might be ready to reignite their interest in a player they have been linked with on and off for years.

As reported by la Repubblica (via Lazio News 24), Manchester United are pushing for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Paris Saint-Germain also appear to be doing the same though and it looks like the Serbian is rated at a transfer fee around €70 million.

Manchester United are pushing for Sergej

Sergej has been one of the top midfielders in Serie A for a long time now. And while rumours have always linked him with a Lazio exit, he has remained at the Italian club for many years.

But at 27 years of age, it might be time for him to make a move, if he does want to experience a different challenge in his career. On the other hand, rumours have suggested that Maurizio Sarri might not be opposed to the idea of his departure, if that means rebuilding the squad in his own vision.

If Manchester United were able to sign Sergej, it would be considered as a major coup on their part.
