Manchester United’s search for a new permanent manager could come to an end soon, as Erik ten Hag has emerged as the favourite to get the job at the end of the season when Ralf Rangnick’s run as the interim manager comes to an end. And it is not hard to understand why the Red Devils might be keen on bringing the Dutchman to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag has done an incredible job during his time at Ajax. They are once against the best team in the Netherlands, and have improved a lot in Europe as well.
Ten Hag was the mastermind behind their brilliant run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals a few years back, when they were moments away from reaching the final before Tottenham Hotspur clinched a late win.
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag has asked Manchester United to be 100% involved in the present and future transfer strategy when it comes to new signings, outgoings and new contracts. The manager is believed to view this as a key point in rebuilding the club.
Erik ten Hag has asked Manchester United for one thing
Thus, it is pretty clear that Ten Hag wants to be involved in the transfer strategy of the club and build the team in his own vision.
It is pretty clear that Manchester United are in need of a rebuild at the moment, having not won a trophy in a long time. This is set to be their fifth straight trophyless season, something that would have been unthinkable during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time as manager of the club.
Now, it will be interesting to see if Ten Hag does end up getting the Manchester United job. Most of the recent rumours to point in the direction of him being appointed the next manager of the club though.
