Manchester United are expected to appoint a new permanent manager soon. That is no secret, with Ralf Rangnick’s interim run set to come to an end at the end of the season. And after the club are set to finish their fifth straight season without a piece of silverware, it is safe to say that changes are required at Old Trafford.

Just bringing in a new manager will not be enough to transform this team into title challengers all of a sudden. But it can go a long way in helping doing that.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of top managers like Mauricio Pochettino, Carlo Ancelotti, Luis Enrique and others in recent times. But it looks like it is Erik ten Hag, who will be getting the Old Trafford job next.

As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United are close to finalising the appointment of their new manager, with Ten Hag expected to be the chosen one.

Ten Hag has the potential to be an excellent appointment for Manchester United. His record at Ajax speaks for itself.

Under his management, Ajax have re-established themselves as the dominant side in the Eredivisie. On top of that, he was the mastermind behind their incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals a few years back as well. And even this season, they were brilliant in Europe, before suffering an unlucky elimination in the round of 16.

thus, it is safe to say that Ten Hag is a brilliant manager. But at the same time, there is a risk involved with appointing someone like him as well.

Ten Hag has never managed a top flight club outside of the Netherlands. And it is safe to say that Manchester United is one of the toughest clubs to manage in the world.
