Edinson Cavani seems to be one of the biggest names that will seek a departure from Manchester United in the summer transfer window. With the Uruguayan’s contract at Old Trafford expiring in the summer, a host of clubs are believed to be interested in the former Paris Saint-Germain striker, who has had an eventful time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Cavani moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2020 as a free agent. Eyebrows were raised though, as the Uruguayan was believed to be past his prime. But Cavani rose to the occasion and proved to be a shining light for the Red Devils, especially in the second half of the season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Cavani scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United in his first season at the club. He was also able to move ahead of Anthony Martial in the pecking order.

Following his success at Old Trafford, Manchester United handed Cavani a one-year contract extension last summer. But this season, it has not gone well for the striker and now, it feels like he could be on his way out.

Real Sociedad leading transfer race for the Manchester United striker

As reported by The Sun, Cavani is edging towards a move to Real Sociedad, when his current deal with Manchester United expires in the summer. Clubs like Inter Milan and River Plate also appear to be interested in his signature though.

But it looks like Cavani is interested in continuing his career in Spain. In recent times, he has also been linked with Barcelona, although that move might no longer be on the table.

On the other hand, Manchester United are being linked with strikers like Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane and Darwin Nunez, as the Red Devils look to get things back on track after another disappointing campaign.
