Manchester United will have to pay incredible transfer fee for midfielder

Manchester United have several areas where they need to strengthen in the upcoming summer transfer window. Their midfield is one of them. The Red Devils were expected to make an addition in the middle of the park last summer and then this January, but did not end up doing so either time, but sooner or later, the time will come for them to sign someone capable of filling that role.

Midfield has been viewed as a weakness for Manchester United for a while in the first place. On top of that, it looks like the club are set to lose Paul Pogba in the summer, as his current deal runs out at the end of the season.

The futures of Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic are up in the air as well while there are serious questions about whether the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay can be regular starters for Manchester United. Thus, it is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for the club.

One player that they have been linked with for a long time is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but it appears that they will have to pay a huge transfer fee if they want to sign him.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via FC Inter 1908), Lazio will be looking for an €80 million transfer fee to let Milinkovic-Savic go. Other than Manchester United, the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and PSG are also believed to be interested.

It is safe to say that Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the standout performers in the Serie A for a long time, but that is a huge transfer fee to pay for any player, especially when Franck Kessie is set to leave on a free transfer.

Even then, if Manchester United are able to sign the Lazio superstar, it would be considered a major boost for the club.
