Manchester United find themselves in a difficult position right now. The club are set to finish their fifth straight campaign without a trophy, something that would have been unthinkable a decade or so ago, when Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager of the club. But that is how far the Red Devils have slipped over the years and it is clear that it is time for a rebuild with a long-term vision.

The club might have a difficult time hanging on to some of their top players though, who would surely have aspirations to win trophies.

But one player who looks ready to commit his future to the club is Bruno Fernandes, who has established himself as a superstar, ever since arriving at Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in January of 2020.

And as tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Fernandes will sign a new contract in the coming days or weeks and it is only a matter of final details now. The Portuguese international is happy to stay and Manchester United have offered him an improved deal.

Fernandes ready to sign new contract with Manchester United

Fernandes had been the best player at Manchester United for his first season-and-a-half at the club. This time around, his form has dipped a bit to be very honest.

But even then, his numbers have been respectable all things considered and the club will be hoping that he can rediscover his best form once again in the near future.

Fernandes is still just 27 years of age and as a result, is only entering his prime as a footballer at the moment. Thus, one would expect the Portuguese playmaker to be a central piece of Manchester United’s rebuild.

It will be interesting to see who the club’s next manager is and whether he is able to get the best out of Fernandes.
