Manchester United line up move for David de Gea’s replacement
David de Gea is one of the most reliable members of this current Manchester United side. Having left Atletico Madrid in 2011, the Spaniard joined the Red Devils. Under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, he won the Premier League title in the 2012-13 season. A three-time winner of the Community Shield, he also has one FA Cup, one League Cup, and a Europa League title to his name.
But it has not been all positives from De Gea at Manchester United, with a massive drop in form leading to questions being asked about his future a few seasons back. He seemed closer than ever to leaving the club last summer but ultimately stayed on.
This season, De Gea has been pivotal for Manchester United, single-handedly saving them on numerous occasions. But even those incredible performances have not been enough to get him an international call-up.
De Gea has been left out of Spain’s squad recently, with Luis Enrique picking Unai Simon, Robert Sanchez and David Raya ahead of him for their upcoming games. And Manchester United might have potential plans to replace him in the future as well.
Manchester United interested in Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou
As reported by the Mirror, Manchester United are weighing up a move for Sevilla goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou.
De Gea’s contract at Manchester United will expire in the summer of 2023. And there are rumours that the club could be tempted to part ways with the Spaniard and bring in another goalkeeper in the future.
Although Bounou has more than two years left on his contract, he is believed to have a release clause around £25 million.
The Sevilla star has been one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga this season and caught the attention of numerous clubs from around Europe. On the other hand, the Red Devils have also been linked with Sam Johnstone.
