Manchester United have been linked with several players over the past few months as it has become clear that the club will need to make additions in the summer. There were high hopes that they could compete for trophies this season after signing superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane but unfortunately, things have not gone as they would have hoped.
After being knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid, in the Round of 16, Manchester United are almost certain to finish this campaign without any silverware. This is set to be their fifth straight trophyless season. Thus, it is safe to say that they could do with some reinforcements in the summer.
One player that the club have been linked with for a while is Aurelien Tchouameni. And now, it looks like they have been handed a potential boost in the race to sign the French midfielder.
As reported by Marca, Tchouameni is aiming for the Premier League. The AS Monaco midfielder has moved away from Real Madrid’s plans.
Manchester United receive boost in Tchouameni transfer race
Tchouameni has been one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in world football for a few years now.
Not only has he been a standout in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco, but he has also made a number of appearances for the French national team.
Signing someone like Tchouameni can be the perfect move for Manchester United at this point of time. Their midfield has been viewed as a weakness for a while and on top of that, the futures of players like Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek are pretty much up in the air.
Thus, adding Tchouameni to the middle of the park could be a transfer masterstroke on the part of Manchester United, but it will be really difficult to pull off.
