Manchester United are in search of a new permanent manager. That is an open secret at the moment. And several top names have been linked with the club in recent times. Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Carlo Ancelotti, Brendan Rodgers and Luis Enrique are just some of them. Recently though, the name of current Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has also emerged in the rumour mill.
This comes amidst the uncertainty around Chelsea, with the club up for sale. Thus, who knows what the future holds for them.
There is no question though that if Tuchel ends up departing Stamford Bridge anytime soon, there would not be any lack of suitors for his signature, and Manchester United could very well be one of them.
As reported by The Guardian, when asked recently about what assurances he had been given by the club’s hierarchy, the Chelsea manager told Sky Sports:
"“No assurances, and I think anybody who gives an assurance should not be trusted because no one knows – this is my opinion – what’s coming.“One week ago, the statement was clear: the club is not for sale. One week later, it is, obviously, so if anybody tells me today: ‘This is what’s going to happen,’ I will not trust them 100% because we need to be flexible and things turn out to be crazy enough to be upside-down one day later.”"
Tuchel makes Chelsea admission amid Manchester United links
While the situation surrounding Chelsea off the pitch is very uncertain at the moment, on the pitch, they have continued to post decent results. Tuchel deserves immense credit for that.
The German arrived last season after the Blues had underwhelmed under the management of Frank Lampard and looked set to finish outside of the top four.
Not only did Tuchel manage to get Chelsea back into the top four, but he guided them to the Champions League as well, which nobody could have predicted when he arrived.
Thus, it is safe to say that Tuchel is one of the best managers in the world right now. And if Manchester United are able to bring him in, it would be a massive coup on their part. Till now, the German had always maintained that he was very happy at Chelsea. But the current circumstances mean that anything can happen.
