Edinson Cavani appears to be playing his last season at Manchester United, with numerous rumours suggesting that the Uruguayan forward will leave after his current contract at Old Trafford comes to an end, next summer. And with him struggling for playing time, as well as with fitness, this season, that might be the right step for both the club and the player at this stage.

Over the last few months, Manchester United have undergone several changes in their forward ranks. First of all, Anthony Martial joined Sevilla on loan till the end of the season. Marcus Rashford has struggled for playing time and has been linked with a move away as well.

On the other hand, Anthony Elanga has enjoyed a sudden rise to prominence, after he was expected to leave on loan even a few months earlier.

If Cavani leaves Manchester United next summer, the club should sign a striker. And it is believed that their search has already begun, with several forwards already being linked with the Red Devils.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Manchester United are monitoring Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as they look to revitalise their attack in the summer.

Manchester United have been linked with Dembele for a long time. Since joining Celtic, he has caught the eyes of clubs around Europe. And in his first few seasons at Lyon, the striker put up some incredible numbers.

A loan spell at Atletico Madrid did not go as one would have expected but now back at Lyon, Dembele has continued to find the back of the net consistently.

Dembele’s current deal at Lyon is set to run out in the summer of 2023 though. As a result, he could be available for a transfer fee around £25 million, even though once upon a time, it was believed that it would take a figure around £70 million to sign him.
