A number of managers have been linked with the Manchester United job in recent times. Erik ten Hag is one of them. He has done a wonderful job at Ajax, establishing them as the best team in the Netherlands once again while also guiding them to some strong campaigns on the European stage. Thus, it is not hard to see why the Red Devils might be interested in bringing the Dutchman in.

As a club, Manchester United have always preferred long-term managers. Unfortunately though, they have not been able to find one since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

David Moyes’ run came to an end before he could even finish his first season at Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal was at the club a couple of seasons. And neither Jose Mourinho nor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was able to complete three seasons in the Manchester United hot seat.

There are hopes though that Ten Hag can do that. And Manchester United appear to have been handed a major boost in the quest to bring him to the club.

Massive Ten Hag to Manchester United update

As reported by the Mirror, Ten Hag is ready to answer Manchester United’s SOS and he is even open to having Ralf Rangnick on the bench alongside him.

Rangnick is only the interim manager of the club and is expected to take on a consultancy role at the end of the season, while a new permanent manager is appointed. And while Manchester United have not been brilliant since his arrival, there is no question that they have improved a lot from earlier on in the campaign, when they were losing games at an alarming rate.

Thus, it might not be a bad idea to keep the German coach around the team even though it would be interesting to see if he wants a role of that kind.
